Role Overview

• Be responsible for attaching and detaching the load.
• Work to manufacturer’s instructions at all times.
• Establish weights and the effect of the centre of gravity, balance loads and judge distances and clearances.
• Select the appropriate lifting accessories and check that they are in a suitable condition.
• Initiate safe movement of the crane and load using the designated signalling method.
• Liaise with Project Manager upon arrival on site.
• Be able to resist pressures from other persons to carry out unsafe operations.
• Be aware of the effects of wind and other climatic effects on the crane and load.
• Be able to take the action to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping operations.
• Operate fire suppressant equipment, if fitted.

Qualifications and Skills

• Valid CPCS A40 Slinger Signaller (Blue Card)
• Previous experience in slinger roles.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Confident decision-maker with the ability to challenge senior staff when necessary.
