Workshop Supervisor

Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Dundee Depot

Reporting to: Depot Manager

Liaise with: Fitters, Depot Manager, Hire Controllers, Operations Director and National Engineering Department

Job Purpose/Objective:

• Ensure that the cranes and vehicles are maintained and serviced to required industry standards.
• Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is achieved and all workshop equipment and plant is kept compliant and in good working order.
• Continually seek to improve the way in which the role operates within the business to achieve its objectives.
• Undertake other duties that management may reasonably request.
• Ensure all necessary documentation is maintained accurately and up to date.
• Supervise Fitter(s) within the Depot.

Key Responsibilities:

• Allocation of work to depot-based maintenance team.
• Management of daily staffing levels (holidays/absence/overtime).
• Stock management.
• Co-ordinating servicing and maintenance of trailers and cranes.
• A ‘hands on’ approach.
• Ability to prioritise own work and that of the workshop team.
• Experience with crane, plant repairs and maintenance.
• Experience working within a controlled environment in accordance with Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Basic computer skills.
• Effective communication skills.

Person specification

Education/Knowledge/Experience

• Time served technician, recognised industry qualification (City & Guilds/NVQ).
• Supervisory experience.
• Knowledge mobile cranes, plant, and Heavy vehicles.
• Work allocation experience.
• Stock management experience.

Skills/Abilities

• Ability to diagnose common errors/faults with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on mobile cranes, mobile tower cranes, crawler cranes as well as HGV’s and light commercial vehicles.
• Ability to carry out repairs on mechanic, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults on mobile cranes, mobile tower cranes, crawler cranes as well as HGV’s and light commercial vehicles.
